U2 Plays Barack Obama’s Inauguration Concert

I’m not much for politics, but it is worth mentioning that U2 played the Inauguration Concert on Sunday night. At first thought, it doesn’t  seem quite right for an Irish band to play something completly American. But, they did play the song that they wrote about Martin Luther King, Jr., Pride (In the Name of Love). I’ve always loved this song and I think that it is fitting. It’s fitting not becuase Barack Obama is black, but because America will not see him as a black president, but the President. That’s how it should be.

Other noteable players in the concert:

Herbie Hancock
Stevie Wonder
Sheryl Crow
Garth Brooks
Bruce Springsteen

While this Inaguration concert was no rock n’ roll show, I did enjoy the U2 performance along with the performances by Garth Brooks, and Stevie Wonder.
