New York City’s answer to Gun’s n’ Roses, Circus of Power, was and is one of my favorite bands. The self titled debut should be on my list of best debut albums. I can remember playing air guitar and lip syncing to Call of the Wild many times. They had a lot of tattoos, hard, fuzzy and grinding sound that either made you think you were a biker of godley proportions or a modern day Zues. Circus of Power was no hair metal band. Some have called it swamp boogie and motor metal. Buckcherry may be the closest thing to them these days.
They formed in 1989 in New York and went on to record 3 studio albums and 2 live albums. Their last official album was Magic and Madness in 1993. Don’t be sad, there are plans to rerelease their first album and new release is in the works. If they come around here, I will be rocking out at the circus of power.
I can’t find an album review anywhere, so one may be coming down the pike soon from Rock n’ Roll View.
