Every since one long ago night at the Southern Brew Festival in downtown Chattanooga when this dueling piano thing happened, I have avoided dueling pianos. It wasn’t bad. It just didn’t seem like rock n’ roll to me… That is until now.
Elton John and Billy Joel have announced that they will tour together again on the Face to Face tour. The tour kicks off in Jacksonville, Florida (that’s only about an 8 hour drive from here) on March 2nd and will run for about two years. Chances are that they will play somewhere near you in the near future.
John and Joel plan to open the concerts with a series of duets, playing dueling pianos and trading vocals, then they will play solo spots with their band and end the evening with the piano men teaming up again for a grand finale. The shows are expected to include some of their greatest hits alongside a selection of rock n’ roll classics.
This isn’t the first time the two legendary piano players have toured. The first tour they did was in 1994, then a sold out 24 city tour in 2003.
Keep an eye on Billy Joel’s web site for details and dates.

Billy and Elton are absolutely fabulous together. I hope to catch at least a couple of their shows over the next two years.
Leave it to these two to make dueling pianos a respectable art form.
