Challanging Says The Sword on Opening for Metallica

The stoners, The Sword, have had a bit of a learning curve opening for Metallica. If you will recall, I first learning about The Sword form a young rock fan thinking they were the same band as Sword. You can reference that article here. I have since become a fan and so should you, but not before you know who the original band from Canada is.

Live Daily reports this:

For the band The Sword, it’s been a daunting task to learn the ins and outs of Metallica’s massive stage while opening for the heavy-metal godfathers.

“It’s been interesting,” vocalist/guitarist/producer J.D. Cronise said with a laugh during an interview with LiveDaily. “It definitely took some getting used to. It’s a different animal.
“There’s the usual decibel restrictions. They always make the bands progressively louder. The first band (The Sword) has to stick to a certain amount of decibels. The second band (Machine Head) can be a little louder. Metallica is the loudest. Other than that, there’s no part of the stage or anything that’s off limits. It’s been great.”

Signed to New York-based Kemado Records, The Sword–which also includes guitarist Kyle Shutt, bassist/engineer Bryan Richie and drummer Trivett Wingo–is touring in support of its second album, 2008′s “Gods of the Earth,” which features the single “Fire Lances of the Ancient Hyperzephyrians.”
