Album Sales for 2008 Decline: Rock Music Suffered The least

According to eFluxMedia album sales were in decline for 2008 as they have been in the last fews years due to downloading and a slow economy. Latin, Rap, Country, and Classical taking the biggest hit. Rock music suffered the least decline. Thanks AC/DC, Metallica, and Guns n’ Roses. This is just a thought of mine. Do you think that declining records sells has anything to do with the fact that there are fewer and fewer music stores to buy CDs? Did you also stop to think that the stuff offered for sell might just suck?

eFluxMedia report:

Some genres, however, are less and less sought for irrespective of the Internet and its growth. One of the genres that registered significant drops in the past couple of years is Latin music. Between 2007 and 2008, the drops registered in Latin music sales were of 21.1%, whereas between 2006 and 2007 they had dropped by 15.6%.

and

The genres that registered the smallest declines were rock, which fell by only 6.5% and alternative, which registered a decline of 8.7%.

  1. please don’t use the term “country music” as it no longer exists. Country music was destroyed over night many years ago and replaced with kids trying to sing on TV in their underware. Just because these people ware cowboy hats and play fiddles, doesn’t make them country.

  2. Well said.
