Top Ten Songs for Stoners
The following “Top Ten List” was compiled for those of you who like to wake & bake, fire one up, and have tea at 4:20. It is the ultimate soundtrack for when you are chasing the “White Rabbit” or dancing with “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”. It is in no particular order (that would take way too much effort). So, sit back, take a toke, and escape reality…
White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane: Makes you wanna find the Caterpillar and bogart his hooka.
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds by The Beatles: Inspired by a drawing done by John Lennon’s son, Julian. Is it a coincidence that the initials of the song’s title are L.S.D.? I think not…
The Entire Dark Side of the Moon Album by Pink Floyd: Played in time with The Wizard of Oz of course-creating one of the coolest music videos ever!
Mad World by Tears for Fears: This is a really dark trippy song. This song was on the soundtrack for the movie “Donnie Darko”. That movie made me feel like I was tripping sans drugs.
Dazed & Confused by Led Zeppelin: This is the theme song for generations of stoners. I was lucky enough to see it performed at Bonnaroo by Ben Harper and John Paul Jones himself in 2007.
Legalize It by Peter Tosh: I bet you can’t guess what this song is about. You gotta love the Rastafarians.
Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie: WARNING: Do not listen to this song’s lyrics while tripping. You will have to battle Spiders from Mars!
People Are Strange by The Doors: No one says it better than the Lizard King himself.
Shakedown Street by The Grateful Dead: Any “Dead Head” knows that the best stuff is found on “Shakedown Street”.
Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix: Of all the hazes, purple is my favorite.
The preceding “Top Ten List” was just the icing on the cake. I know that I am forgetting some awesome songs. It was actually hard to think of ten songs (as you can imagine, my memory isn’t the greatest). Let me know what I am missing…
