I had heard rumors that the Foo Fighters were no more. There was a bit of disappointment that came over me on hearing this. After all, the Foo Fighters with Dave Grohl has been one of those rock bands that have shown the light over the past 15 years or so. I thought what would Dave be up to to breakup such an awesome band. Then I heard of Them Crooked Vultures. Apparently, the guy who told me that the Foos were breaking up doesn’t have much of an idea of who John Paul Jones is, because he left out the detail that Dave Grohl has formed a band with John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin. Needless to say, my disappointment turned to excitement. I do want to be clear that I don’t know if the Foo Fighters have broken up or not. I’d say, they are just on hiatus while Dave plays in his new super group, Them Crooked Vultures.
After the flurry of rumors that Led Zeppelin would be getting back together for a tour after their triumph at the one off show at the O2 Arena in London, I am extremely pleased that John Paul Jones is making his way out into the world again to perform for the masses. Seeing John Paul Jones has been a rare thing since Led Zeppelin was no more. I have had the fortune of seeing John Paul Jones play live not once but a few times at Bonnaroo. When you see him play, you can get a hint of the power of Led Zeppelin in the 70′s.
We don’t know much about Them Crooked Vultures. It seems that they are keeping pretty tight lipped about what is coming and what is to be expected. Here’s what we know.
