  1. this is a very complete list of all the albums you must listen to.

  2. Kings of Leon is absolutely one of my favorites! Must listen.

  3. 50 Cent – Get Rich or Die Tryin’ is great.
    The list is very complete.

    Thanks!!

  4. Wow that list is rediculous Keyboard Price

  5. dang no fall out boy???
just kidding lol, wonder how long it would take to listen to all those albums

  6. Where’s the latest list up to 2010?? Going to put it here soon I hope?

  7. I think that I need unlimited time for listening those albums… Even that I already listened Metallica S&M, U2, Radiohead and others…

    Gotta be joking!

  9. I forgot about a lot of these. I’m going to have to dig in the collection a bit.

  10. UHHHHHH. “Come Together” by Ike and Tina Turner seems like a pretty glaring omission, and “Jack the Ripper” by Link Wray is definitely on the must hear list if you want to understand the underpinnings of most modern rock. In my humble opinion.

  11. I think this would make a wonderful gift for my friend. I love it!

  12. Lucky for me, I’ve heard most of the 1970′s albums, since that’s when I was a kid & in college. The other decades… stunned by how much I don’t know, but glad Thriller was on the list.

  13. So many beautiful LP’s :) I’m French so sorry I don’t speak very well English but you have to listen some Gainsbourg’s tracks really the best French artist!

  14. At first I thought this was just 100! I was looking at the list and it’s quite shameful that there seem to be quite a few that I haven’t heard. I bet my dad has listened to most of them though.

  15. WOW! Thats is a great big long list, I can only imagine it took you some time to compile and put together for us. I would just like to say thanks personally for it!

I am glad to see many of the greats on there, Zeppelin, Stones, Beegees, stranglers and pink floyd. I am actually itching to write this and go and dig out “wish you were here” to stick on whilst I mooch about on the web.

Once again many thanks for this great share!

  17. wow. I don;’t think I could listen to all those albums even in a lifetime much less before I die, but thanks for the list though. I didn’t notice any Abba there but hey, I think we have all heard their music way too much lately anyway :-)

  18. I very good! the best album compilation I’ve ever seen

  19. One glaring omission to me is Sublime. When the lead singer (Brad Nowell) has been dead for almost 15 years, and your songs are still in heavy radio rotation, you must have done something right.

40 oz. to Freedom, or the self-titled album, or both, need to be on this list.

  20. Wow this list is really huuuuuuuuuuuuge, i listened about 77 albums from those which you listed here so i have few more to listen before i will die : )

  21. Nice list…. sad to see no Elbow tho.

  22. Gunna try and get hold of Pavement – Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain … not heard it before… maybe I should have!??

  23. Thanks for this huge list. There are many songs that I haven’t heard of and I guess I’m gonna get them soon. As a great admirer of Bryan Adams, I was a little disappointed that none of his songs have made to your top 1001. Nevertheless, this is a great list and I like many of the songs included.

  24. Excellent list a few good songs that I know. I’m glad to see that Lou reed appear in this list but not with ” perfect day ” ?!! Best song ever according to me.

  25. The germs
im suprised the germs was on that list

    grate band

    RIP darby

  26. The other album is such a legendary to the music industry.. I can relate to some 80′s but in my age i would prefer to early 2000′s. As i remember I always play JAY-Z blueprint album at the max volume….

  27. I heard few songs. They were nice.I will try to listen the whole list before i die.

  28. they missed arctic monkeys ‘whatever people say i am, that’s what i’m not’.. faaaark.

  29. Idc who the other people are, I just wanted to see if they had Pantera!! \m/ RIP Dimebag

  30. NO. FUCK LIMP BIZKIT

  31. wow there alot hthere to concider. Will download list and go through it. Thx for the new home work!! LOL mark

  32. THERE IS NO 30 SECONDS TO MARS?!?!? WTF!?!?! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. That is a really comprehensive list! I saw a number of great artistes in there, like Frank Sinatra and The Beatles. They are my all time favorites. I doubt anybody would be able to go through the whole list in one sitting.

  34. statisticly its immposible to hear it all before you die….and im only 19…..BUT you can get to know of alot good ones you otherwise will not know…so…its GRATE!

  35. This list is very suspect. It has 3 albums from Dexys Midnight Runners, but not a single Ted Nugent record! There are no Blue Oyster Cult records on the list, but there are 4 Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds records. 5 Radiohead records vs. 1 Skynyrd. How about REO Speedwagon, The Guess Who, Joe Walsh? None of those are on the list but there are 3 Pet Shop Boys records. Lights Out by UFO should be on everyone’s list, as well as Fine Art of Surfacing by the Boomtown Rats.
    Very suspect!!!

  36. Hey Kurt, I have already played every album on this list and it only took me about 2 years. If your a real music fan it will be easy. 2 albums a day and some days 3. Easy!Even though I don’t agree with every album, it is a great list and have found many bands from days gone by that I have missed.

  37. Queen – Night of the Opera for me. In fact any of the early stuff from Queen would do me just fine. Thx for making the list.
    Steve

  38. Great list but there are at least three BIG misses: “Strange Days” by The Doors; “Eye in the Sky” – Alan Parsons Project and “Songs for the deaf” by Queens of the Stone Age. Otherwise it’s a powerful list.

  39. Glad to see Pantera made it on the list… (And Alice in Chains) RIP DIME

  40. I’ve just counted the albums, and there are “only” 998 :D Then I read the comments… So, these 3 misses are absent from the list :) Or not?

  41. Wow, this list is a long list but it really shows how record companies changed their criteria for which bands to sign over the years and decades, the whole music evolution. Thanks for sharing this list, will give it a shot definitely!
