About the Artist: Lannie Flowers hails from Arlington, Texas. After capturing rave reviews from music critics from all over the world, Lannie Flowers has become an immediate spotlight in the power pop world. His sophomore release, Circles has been named “Album Of The Year” by Power Pop Station Magazine. The album has been described as, “a brilliant power pop record by one of the most talented practitioners of the genre. “New Songs Old Stories” is his latest release and the result though far from a self-indulgent ego trip, rather a moving and elegiac artistic statement from start to finish. By the way this is a compilation of sorts containing some of his fans favorite tracks. But let me say first this is not your overly predictable Ramon Noodle “Sing-Songy” Nikelback-esque pop artist. No – instead Flowers could even be classed as a 3 genera band: Alternative Rock, Pop, and Classic Rock. Flowers has way too much precision and clarity to live in the shadows of overly-predictable Power Pop-Rock. Indeed this is clearly evident in songs like “Another Weekend”, “You Said” , and “Give me a Chance” which methodically ups the ante to a very respectable level of catchy musical craftsmanship and addictive pop-rocking melody that transcends pigeonholing. The music is also commercially viable with a fresh rocked out sound with a jagged edge delivery that holds the attentions span of the listener perfectly. In a nutshell this is Gin Blossoms meets John Hiatt. “New Songs, Old Stories” appeals to many listeners young and old with a wide variety of musical styles and flavors to chose from. In the end it packs a powerful hooky-melodic punch for all the rockers out there who want something more than Nikelback, Daughtry or Lifeshouse. Favorite track: Give me a Chance

Criticism: None

Conclusion: Lannie Flowers is clearly a strong talent out of Arlington, TX. No doubt Flowers has carved a marketable niche for himself with his music, and his gift to his fanbase is this CD. This 9 track compilation is simply testament to that talent. I can honestly say this is one artist that clearly gives you a musical snapshot that is highly marketable, upbeat, and dare I say hooky in scope.
