Review: So what do artists like Wire, Gang of Four, Talking Heads and Pavement have that Secret Season don’t? Not much really if you ask me save the multimillion dollar promotional machines and major record label support. In this overly saturated genera/market there’s a plethora of independent artists coming out of the woodwork, armed with nothing more than a PC, a Microphone, an acoustic guitar and nothing really special to offer. They manage push their music out to the masses and much of it is substandard in nature and forgetful to say the least. Secret Season break the mold with their amazing sound and deliver invigorating music that has a deep seeded College-Rock-Pop quality to it. The guitar playing courtesy of Mark Moogalian is red hot and the production value of this second release is as good as it gets for an Independent Artist. Secret Season stands out from other Indie-Alt Artists in a good way within this very saturated singer/songwriter market. Their answer to mundane music is to deliver something unique which is by the way a breath of fresh air. The strong suit of Secret Season is their passion and ability to write you a fun yet powerful piece of music via solid musicianship and thought provoking melodies that speak to the heart, mind and soul. One would be wise to keep a watchful eye on them over the years to come.
