[NOTE: Looks like "they" have pulled the trailer. (Maybe Sharon has something to do with it?) We'll try to get the video up again. In the mean time enjoy this video of "I Don't Know". Randy blisters the guitar on this one.]

The imminent release of Randy Rhoads: Last Train Home documentary from director Petter M. Margolis and Dakota Pictures is coming on us. The trailer for the film has been leaked building excitement for many Rhoads fans. This is a must see for fans of Rhoads, Ozzy Osbourne and heavy metal in general. For those that don’t know, Randy Rhoads was the prodigious guitar player for Ozzy Osbourne before his death in a plane crash in Florida in 1982. Dying at the age of 25, Rhoads is thought of as one the greatest heavy metal guitar players of all time.

You are encouraged to head over to Wikipedia and have a read-up on Randy Rhoads.

Blabbermouth had this to say about the trailer:

Director Peter M. Margolis of Dakota Pictures and his crew started filming on March 19, 2007, when hundreds of fans gathered at Rhoads’ grave in San Bernardino, California to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his death. Since then, Margolis has filmed more than 100 interviews, with Rhoads’ family and friends and people who worked with him. The list of names includes Kelli Garni, the original bassist in QUIET RIOT; Carlos Cavazo, the guitarist in the “Metal Health” line-up of QUIET RIOT; Sarzo and his brother Robert, who was considered as a replacement for Rhoads in Ozzy’s band; Jodi Raskin, Rhoads’ girlfriend at the time of his death; Grover Jackson, whose company made Rhoads’ signature guitars; Randy’s brother Kelle, who’s wearing the silver “RR” ring Rhoads had on when he died; and MOUNTAIN guitarist and ’70s legend Leslie West, one of Rhoads’ idols.

Commented Margolis, “Two years is a very long time to spend shooting a film; however, not that long for a documentary of this nature.

“I remember reading an article in the Hollywood Reporter several months ago regarding a documentary due out about singer Patti Smith. They were interviewing the director who claimed that it took him seven years from start to finish. I remember thinking that seven years seems like an eternity to work on one project, but as we approach two years, I can now see how that could be possible.

“While shooting all through 2008, we began editing as well. It took eight months just to sift through all of the interviews dealing with the period of 1975-1979 to create a cohesive story from that time period.

“This documentary has taken us across the United States more than once, as we have shot in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Nevada to name a few. In addition, we recently returned from England where we filmed Bernie Tormé, Lindsay Bridgwater, Johnny Cook, Chris Tsangrides, Pete Way, Lee Kerslake, Max Norman and a few surprise interviews. We also shot extensively at Ridge Farm studios where the band lived and recorded for long periods of time while the records were being produced.”

“‘Ain’t no way to extinguish this buttrock blaze.”

The Drunken Bastard has a few things that he requires of a music video that is posted on Rock n Roll View. The first requirements is that they must have a MySpace page and they must be friends with Tom. The second requirement is that they must have hot chicks in their video. The third thing is that it must be kick ass rock n roll.

Wicked Celtic and their video for “I Don’t Wanna Hear Your Band” meet at least one of those requirements. Can you guess which one? What else has to be said? Nothing.

Befow you go head over to Wicked Celtics site.

“Wicked Celtics fights back against spamming on Myspace Music. When we first saw this video from Wicked Celtics, who happens to be a friend of Tom Anderson (creator of Myspace) we couldn’t help but understand, empathize, and laugh.”
-RockOnAltitude.com

“Wicked Celtics has a new hit. He has done it again with a manly man power rock ballad that lays it down as it should be laid down. I’m not sure if he’s over the top or has just lit the envelope on fire!”
Steel Panther has been known as Danger Kitty, Metal Shop and Metal Skool. The band performs regular on the Sunset Strip and is a major draw. The band both plays tribute and lampoons the music of the Sunset Strip in the 80′s. They are quite well known for inviting both famous musicians and celebrities to perform with them on stage.

Kings of the Sun were destined to join AC/DC as Australian rock royalty, but band personality conflicts and strife forced them to being just a footnote in rock history. This video comes from the bands second release, Full Frontal Attack. Jeffery Hoad, the bands singer was hailed as the second coming of Jim Morrison in a contemporary hard rock band. He probably took too much of that to heart. Nevertheless, Kings of the Sun produced three suburb albums with excellent guitars and vocals helmed by the legendary producer Eddie Kramer (Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, et al.).

Kings of the Sun toured with such heavy weights as Guns n’ Roses, Kiss, Lita Ford, and Joe Satriani.

If you can find their albums, pick them up and give them a listen. Their three albums are: Kings of the Sun, Full Frontal Attack, and Resurrection.

Emerging new artist Zander Bleck presented Rock n’ Roll View with the exceptional high definition music video for “Beyond the Horizon” If you aren’t getting the HD here, jump on over to HD Music Videos Online for Beyond the Horizon in HD widescreen.

Bleck is coming up on the New York music scene with his vision of rock n’ roll fostered by the music that he loved such Led Zeppelin, U2, Queen. I’m hearing other influences in there too such as the Cure, Morrissey and a touch of Chris Isaak. Frankly, the song and video for “Beyond the Horizon” is striking. The haunting lyrics dance with the images of the video and the sound of Bleck’s voice to create a unique listening experience.

If “Beyond the Horizon” is indicative of the music to come from Zander Bleck, those rock fans who like their music atmospheric and expansive are sure to enjoy.

Fans were elated with their reformation in 2006 with the album Monotheist. A troubled and brilliant Tom (Warrior) Fischer led the band in one experiment after another with eletronica and strings. In the process making some of the most memorable heavy metal ever recorded. Critics have called Celtic Frost many things and said many detracting things about albums such as Cold Lake for being toocommercial. Celtic Frost, at their least creative is better than most bands could ever dream. Their discography is complex, deep, and very dark. Macabre poetry with Marshals is the best way to describe these European metal gods.

Important albums: Morbid Tales, Into the Pandemonium, Vanity Nemesis

Celtic Frost broke up again in 2008. I suspect that other members of the band did not agree with the vision of Tom (Warrior) Fischer. Fischer created another band called Triptykon to continue his vision of Celtic Frost. I have heard a single track that was made availabe on Myspace (link below), I loved it. I’m very anxious to hear the final product and hopefully see Triptykon live in the near future.
